St. Patrick’s Parish was established in 1940 in the northwest section of the city on Olive, near the Olivette border. The first building served both as a school and a chapel. The new church was dedicated by the Cardinal at the time, Joseph E. Ritter, on March 16, 1958, and it was closed in 2001 due to dwindling membership. To mark the closing of the church, the parishioners held an Irish wake. The school ceased to operate in 1968 due to its merger with All Saints in the Loop. The church is presently the home of St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Church. (Photo by John A. Wright.)
